Wet-process phosphoric acid production technologies can be classified as follows: Sulfuric acid process, nitric acid process, hydrochloric acid process. Among these, the sulfuric acid process is the most widely applied industrial route.

The sulfuric acid process can be further divided into: Anhydrite process, hemihydrate process, dihydrate process, dihydrate-hemihydrate process, hemihydrate-dihydrate process. Currently, the dihydrate process is the dominant technology, accounting for over 80% of global wet-process phosphoric acid production.

Process Description

Phosphate rock slurry and 98 wt% sulfuric acid are fed into an agitated reaction tank at a controlled ratio. Key operating parameters, including SO₄²⁻ concentration and liquid-to-solid ratio (2.5-3.0:1), are precisely controlled.

The reaction slurry overflows from the reactor and is pumped by a slurry pump to a rotary table filter, where solid-liquid separation is completed under vacuum conditions.

Process Description

The filtrate (dilute phosphoric acid) is pumped by a pump to the raw phosphoric acid tank area. The dilute phosphoric acid is then concentrated by forced-circulation vacuum evaporation. From the outlet of the phosphoric acid circulation pump, the acid together with circulating acid preheated to approximately 80℃, then enters a flash chamber, where most of the water is evaporated.

The phosphoric acid is concentrated to approximately 50 wt% P₂O₅ and transferred to the concentrated acid storage area, where it is stored in concentrated acid settling tanks.
